Fatty Liver Disease

Fatty Liver Disease

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), formerly known as fatty liver disease or NAFLD, occurs when excess fat accumulates in the liver in association with metabolic conditions such as obesity, insulin resistance and lipid disorders. In some people, MASLD can progress to inflammation and liver injury (MASH), fibrosis (scarring), and eventually cirrhosis. Importantly, liver scarring is also closely linked to increased cardiovascular risk.

Advances in noninvasive imaging, biomarkers and new therapies are rapidly changing how MASLD is evaluated and treated. At Advocare Princeton Cardiometabolic Health, we assess both liver and cardiometabolic health, identify those at greater risk for disease progression, and develop individualized treatment strategies to improve outcomes.

Our goal is to improve liver health while addressing the underlying metabolic factors, helping protect your heart, liver and overall long-term health.
